THB-specific context

Paper and polymer notes stay in one face-value row

BOT introduced polymer ฿20 notes in 2022 and polymer ฿50 and ฿100 notes in 2025 alongside valid paper designs. Material changes identification, not the subtotal for a verified note.

Outstanding old and commemorative notes are optional

BOT circulation reporting records balances at unusual historic and commemorative values. Unwithdrawn notes remain countable under the Currency Act, but they are not ordinary Series 17 drawer assumptions.

Small satang coins have an accounting-only boundary

The Treasury lists one-, five-, and ten-satang coins but says they are used for accounting rather than ordinary economic circulation. Twenty-five and fifty satang remain normal visible rows.

A damaged-note route is not an authentication result

BOT guidance separates note condition and exchange handling from face-value arithmetic. The calculator cannot decide whether a damaged piece qualifies, so doubtful cash should follow the official inspection route.

The THB Cash Counter totals Thai baht notes and coins in integer satang. Sort the pieces by cash kind and face value, enter whole non-negative quantities, and check each subtotal against the physical group. The denomination table and locked calculator use the same reviewed BOT and Treasury data.

Use one row when paper becomes polymer

The default Series 17 notes are ฿1,000, ฿500, ฿100, ฿50, and ฿20. BOT's current-banknote and Series 17 pages were accessed 30 August 2026. They support the five ordinary note rows without requiring a separate input for every portrait, print year, or substrate.

BOT began issuing a polymer ฿20 note on 24 March 2022. It later announced polymer ฿50 and ฿100 notes for 21 November 2025. Valid paper and polymer pieces at one face value circulate together, so a verified paper ฿100 and polymer ฿100 both belong in the ฿100 note row.

TheCashCount cannot authenticate a design or judge its condition. Use BOT's identification material and the organisation's cash procedure before adding an unfamiliar or damaged note to a completed Cash Count.

Keep outstanding special notes outside the ordinary drawer

Thailand's Currency Act and BOT's live currency-in-circulation table preserve issued balances at several unusual values. Production therefore keeps old or commemorative ฿500,000, ฿80, ฿70, ฿60, ฿10, ฿5, ฿1, and 50-satang banknotes behind Legacy Denominations.

An outstanding balance is evidence that a value has not simply disappeared; it is not evidence that the note is commonly used. These pieces do not belong in every Series 17 drawer. Enable an optional row only after identifying the physical issue and confirming that the organisation accepts it.

Different commemorative designs at one cash kind and face value share a row. The calculator records face value, not scarcity, collector premium, or market price. A rare ฿500,000 banknote can produce a large Cash Count while still being an unusual item that needs independent verification.

Separate economic coins from accounting-only satang

The default coin rows are ฿10, ฿5, ฿2, ฿1, 50 satang, and 25 satang. Thailand's Treasury Department identifies those pieces within the current coin system and publishes circulation statistics for the ordinary economy.

One-, five-, and ten-satang coins have a different operational description. The Treasury lists them as circulation-coin denominations but says they are used for accounting rather than normal economic circulation. Production keeps them optional so exact cash can be entered without implying that a retail drawer should routinely contain them.

Do not merge a 50-satang banknote with a 50-satang coin. Their value is equal, but their physical kind and reconciliation quantity are different. Integer satang also keeps three 25-satang coins exact: they contribute 75, not an approximate decimal.

Condition and exchange sit outside the subtotal

BOT's Banknotes FAQ provides handling and exchange guidance for damaged or unfit notes. A face-value row cannot inspect missing area, contamination, security features, or exchange eligibility. A calculated subtotal therefore does not prove that a damaged piece should remain in usable drawer cash.

Keep questionable notes separate, follow the official inspection route, and only enter the quantity accepted by the organisation's procedure. This keeps the arithmetic honest without turning TheCashCount into an authentication or redemption decision.

A repeatable Thai baht Cash Count

Count ordinary Series 17 notes from ฿1,000 down, then the economic coins down to 25 satang. Enable special-note or accounting-only rows only when a verified piece is present. Compare the completed Cash Count with Expected Cash and recount independently when the drawer is Over or Short.

The worked example uses one optional ฿500,000 note and three 25-satang coins. Its ฿500,000.75 result is generated from 50,000,075 integer satang by the production calculation and formatter used in the locked THB calculator.
